﷯On the first Tuesday of each month, six friends meet for tea. One of the women is a single parent, so her home is where everyone gathers. They choose a different theme each month that is centered on the book they are all currently reading. I have to say; this makes for some very interesting teas! A new book is chosen at each tea, and then the ladies brainstorm for ideas and recipes. Several of the participants volunteer to make and or buy the food. Because they meet in the evenings, they keep the food choices light. I am amazed at the creativity and also the variety of books these women read. The hostess always makes the tea and is delighted to use her heirloom china teacups and dishes. My neighbor, Nancy, and two of her co-teacher friends meet on the first Sunday afternoon of each month. Each lady reads a different book and then gives a five-minute talk on her selection. They use various tea books, mine included, for their menus. They rotate homes, and the hostess serves the tea, using her teacups and teapots. The recipes are printed in advance, and each member takes a recipe card, then brings that item to the next tea. It’s a fun-filled afternoon and a full afternoon. These are just two ideas to encourage you to start a book club and combine it with tea-time. In the comments below, please let me know any ideas you have and creative tea time ideas. I would love to possibly share your creativity in an upcoming blog. drink tea and read books
